Post UTME Result is Out, What Next?

Now that the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta has released the post UTME results of students that participated in the last post UTME screening exercise, the most asked question now is "What next?" 

A lot of questions have been thrown to me today just within the pace of the results being released and now. I will attend to all of in in this post for clarity and reference purpose. I will group the questions in headings, so take your time to read and comprehend this article. You can ask question in the comment section should in case a point is not clear to you. 

"What is FUNAAB post UTME Cut off mark?"

Perhaps this is your question. Please be informed that FUNAAB does not publish departmental cut off marks. This is because composite is not the only deciding factor in allocating admission. A candidate with a higher composite may be denied admission and one with lower will get it because a requirement is met by the latter which the former ignored. 

As much as it is important that you have a very high composite, this alone does not guarantee admission which is why FUNAAB in recent years do not publish cut off marks. 

The benchmark we know is; for any Agric course, you need to score a minimum of 180 and a minimum of 200 for other science courses. Anything other than this, discard it. 

"My composite is "**", what are my chances of gaining admission?"

This is one of the question I have faced the most today. The truth is, I don't know your chances. Admission is decided by the Admission Committee of the school and not by the comforting words of any students, parent or tutor. 

The best I will tell you is, a higher composite increases your chances because admission is a matter of survival of the fittest. With this in mind, I can only encourage you to pray and hope for the best because I believe in the God factor. 

However, if you know that your composite is low beyond consideration, do not waste time, obtain the next UTME form. This does not mean you have given up on this year's admission, instead it means you ain't putting all your eggs in one basket. If you know, you know. 

"When will admission list be released?"

Admission list will be released the way post UTME result was released, a time you won't expect. This is not happening anytime soon. This is because the candidate selection process isn't something the admission board does in a jiffy. 

Shortlisting and sorting will be done first from the school, names of selected candidates will be recommended and forwarded to JAMB for cross examination. 

JAMB will cross examine your scores and check your O level grades to see if it meets the requirement for admission. This is why Uploading of your O level result on CAPS is very important. 

If JAMB can't find the result you upload on FUNAAB portal on CAPS or discovers that the O level grades on the school portal doesn't correspond with what is on CAPS, your registration number will be flagged and you will be denied admission.

Successful candidates will then be approved by JAMB. The result of all this processes is what will lead you to your CAPS to go and check your admission status. The time this will start is unknown, however when it start you will know. 

In order to be well informed and be up to date on recent information and occurrences in the school. It is advisable that you join at least one Aspirants' group where they share up to date information about admission.
